οὐ μόνη δὲ κιθάρα Ἀπόλλωνος,
[Apollo does not only possess mastery of the lyre,]
ἀλλὰ καὶ αὐλητικῆς καὶ κιθαριστικῆς εὑρετὴς ὁ θεός.
[but the god is skilled in both the pipes and the cithara.]
δῆλον δ' ἐκ τῶν χορῶν καὶ τῶν θυσιῶν
[And this is clear from his dances and his sacrifices]
ἃς προσῆγον μετ' αὐλῶν τῶι θεῶι,
[which people lead through their halls in honor of the god]
καθάπερ ἄλλοι τε καὶ Ἀλκαῖος ἔν τινι τῶν ὕμνων ἱστορεῖ.
[Just as Alcaios recalls in one or another of his songs.]
